PQSCADA Investigator

1.1 PQSCADA Overview

The Investigator program is a Power Quality data analysis tool.

The PQSCADA software is characterized as distributed architecture software that enables scalable easy analysis of countless local and remote measurement devices. The scalability scheme supports physical expansions and reflects the hierarchy of the components in the electrical grid.

1.2 Theory of Operation

The Investigator application is an innovative tool that enables the user to connect to countless Measurement Points in the electrical grid; to view and analyze various types of Power Quality parameters on an easy to use workbench and on one synchronized time line.

The Investigator is easy to use a multi functional tool. Hereby some of the application functions:

  • Various type of Power Quality parameters to query and analyze:
  • RMS and Waveform Voltage and current

  • Flickering

  • THD Voltage and Current

  • Active / Reactive / Apparent Power

  • Power Factor

  • Energy

  • 512 Voltage and Current Harmonics

  • Events

  • Temperature

    • Power Quality and System events on Grid table and pinned point on a graph
The Investigator allows the user to view all the power quality events that occurred during a period of time according to the EN 50160 standard.

  • Power Frequency

  • Slow (Supply) Voltage Variation

  • Rapid Voltage Change

  • Flicker

  • Supply Voltage Dips

  • Short and Long Interruptions

    • Templates

The Template function allows the user to save the viewed parameters of a specific Measuring Point (Node) for use with another measuring point with out the need to individually check off the parameters one by one.

    • Time Bookmark

The Time Bookmark allows the user to bookmark a specific query time for future investigation. The user first saves a particular query time, and then at a later date, this query time is loaded into the viewing window for continued analysis.

    • Time Shift

The Time Shift feature allows the user to shift or change the time window being analyzed by sending a new query to the Node. The Shift capabilities include:
  • Backward – Shift the viewing window backwards in time

  • Forward – Shift the viewing window forwards in time

  • Append Backward – Adds time to the left of the current window (goes further back in history)

  • Append Forward – Adds time to the right of the current window (adds more recent data to the current time window)

    • History (Redo\Undo)

The History feature allows the user to Redo and Undo the previous actions in the following areas
  • Listing of measurement point parameters

  • Charting data

  • Chart configuration

  • Time periods
