Technological Innovation Means Saving on Electric Measurements

The new and economical SMART Pił analyzer futher broadens the consolidated family of MACH 30 (three- phase and SMART  panel board-type analyzing instruments. It is the pr0duct of strategy aimed at consolidating the brand's presence in the field of measuring instruments through a line of highly technological products and systems that meet Company's traditional needs to economize and optimize electricity consumption. 

The SMART Pił panel board-type analyzers have been designed and manufactured to be used in low and medium voltage electricity distribution panel boards. The SMART Pił measures and computes the main electric quantities specified in the table on page 36. The computing values of average powers may be set for times ranging from 1 to 60 minutes .

The precision is about 0,25% 25 quantities may be viewed in a series of pages on a liquid crystal display on front. Finally an extremely important plus is that an RS-485 serial port is available in each SMART Pił so that measurements can be sent to a data recording system as described in the "ENERGY MANAGEMENTS " section.

The 2p version of SMART Pił has two output relays that can be configured in three different modes as follows

 

 


"Load control" mode

The SMART Pił analyzer incorporates a "LOAD CUTOUT" function for controlling power peaks in order to avoid costly surcharges.

A sophisticated predictive algorithm monitors the power consumption trend. Whenever it is dermined that the maximum allowed value may be exceeded, an output relay is activated and load is cut out. 

As result, before the power peak arises , non-priority loads can be cut out or the user warned.

"Alarm Threshold" mode

The SMART Pił analyzer incorporates an "ALARM THRESHOLD" function for keepeng the maximum values of the main electric parameters under control.

If a parameter exceeds a programmed value, a relay to which the threshold has been assigned is activated. 

This function enables the user to control peak values of voltage, current etc.

"Pulse Emission mode"

The SMART Pił analyzer incorporates a "PULSE EMISSION" function for transferring data on the consumption of Active Power (kW) and Reactive Power (k VAr) to a PLC.

Why The Load Cutout Function?

SMART Pił represents a technological innovation because besides being a highly precise measuring instrument it can signal when loads exceed a set level and disconnect users that have been identified in advance by the Company in order to avoid excessive consumption and reduce the power demands make of the electric company. Let's not for- get the power is paid not only on the basis of a fixed charge but also according to demand , which means high costs per KW,

The diagram illustrates the concept clearly, When the instrument detects the the power limit is about to be exceeded, it signals the necessity of disconnecting loads with an internal relay, which in turn activates the controls for immediately cutting out the selected load. As soon as the demand has been brought down to normal levels, the load can be normally reconnected. Cooling units, compresors and machines that are less important for production Remember that savings does not means less work, but rather using resources efficiently so as to minimize energy costs and thereby gain a competitive edge.

Measurement Pages

Only 4 pages in which to view three-phase parameters. Furthermore, the voltages, currents and power factor are available for each line, as well as the average and max. average power. Active and reactive energy are stored in a non-volatile memory. 

The active and reactive energies of the tree-phase system or, if selected, of the individual phases, always appear at the bottom of the display.

Other configuration and setting pages are available together with a guided menu for easy configuration.

Special Functions

"Password" Function
The configuration of the SMART Pił, including the energy meters - is protected by a safely password.

"Partial Energy Meter" Function
You can rely on a partial energy meter to measure consumption in preset periods of time. Resetting the partial meter will have no effect on the overall measurements.

"Simplified Configuration" Function
Configuring the SMART Pił is easy: codes for the three phase, single-phase and balanced three-phase configurations are already entered in the setup menu.

"Firmware Update" Function
The FW version is indicated in a specific configuration page. In the SMART Pił, the FW is stored in a "Flash" memory and can be edited in case of need, directly in field.
